What living here is like

It is a house, not a facility. You have a door you can close and a kitchen you can actually cook in, and there are other veterans under the same roof if you want company.

  • Your own room, your own doorNobody shares a bedroom. When you want to be left alone, you close the door and you are.
  • A kitchen you can cook inFull kitchen, shared with the house. Make a real meal instead of eating out of a microwave.
  • Laundry down the hallThe washer and dryer are in the house. No quarters, no laundromat, no hauling a bag on the bus.
  • Somewhere to sit with peopleThere is a common room with a TV. Some nights that is where everybody ends up, and some nights it is quiet.

Your room

The room is yours

You get your own room with a door that locks. Not a bunk, not a shared bedroom. Your bed, your dresser, your space.

Close the door when you want quiet. Open it when you feel like company. The kitchen, the laundry room and the common room are shared with the other residents, and the rest of the day is yours to run how you want.

The area

Close to what you need

The homes are in the Charlotte area, near shopping and on bus routes, so you can get where you are going without depending on anyone.

Not having a car does not have to run your week here. The houses sit on bus routes, so getting to work, to appointments and to the places you already go does not mean asking someone for a ride. If you do drive, you come and go on your own schedule.

Shopping is close by, so a trip out for groceries or an errand is not an all-day project. Ask about what is around a specific house when you call and we will walk you through it.

  • Close to shoppingGroceries and everyday errands are a short trip away.
  • Bus routes availablePublic transit runs nearby if you do not drive.
  • Charlotte and the surrounding areaResidential streets, not a facility. We share the exact address when you call.
  • A regular house on a regular streetYou come and go like anyone else who lives there.

About us

About Matthew Family Properties

Matthew Family Properties rents private rooms in shared homes to veterans around Charlotte. That is the whole business. You get a room of your own in a house you share with other veterans, and the kitchen, laundry room and common room are there for everyone living in it.

The room comes with a bed and a dresser, and utilities and wifi are part of what you pay, so there are no bills to turn on in your name before you can sleep there. We keep the houses up and we answer the phone, and if we do not have a room open we will tell you that instead of stringing you along.

Call to discuss payment options. We would rather talk it through with you than leave you guessing from a website.

"I wanted veterans to have somewhere steady to land. A room of their own, a house that is kept up, and people who pick up the phone."

Questions

Answers before you call

Who can live here?

Our homes are for veterans. If you served, you can call and ask about a room. It does not matter which branch you were in or how long ago you got out.

You will talk to a person who will ask what you need and tell you honestly whether we have something open. If we do not have a room right now, we will say so rather than keep you waiting.

Ready to ask? Call (704) 399-8108.

Still have a question?

Ask us straight. We would rather answer it on the phone than have you guess from a website.
